Complete new design
on Microsoft .NET (XP) and .NET Compact Framework (PPC,SP)
With Pocket-Jongg Version 4.0 the game has entered
a new dimension of flexibility. Using the .NET Framework and managed
DirectX (MDX) for DirectX 9.0c for Windows XP, Pocket-Jongg can now
offer a variety of new features and can be easily enhanced with even
more cool features.

Integrated Update
Check the "About..." dialog for updates available
on Pocket-Jongg.com. All minor updates (i.e. 4.0.x to 4.0.y) will be
free and can be downloaded and installed directly from within Pocket-Jongg.

Download new TileSets
on the fly
Check the "Options" dialog for new TileSets
available on Pocket-Jongg.com. If a new tileset is available or one of
your existing TileSets has been updated, the "TileSet" selection box
will be colored in Red*. Than simply select the new or updated TileSet
and you can download it right there and than.
*on Pocket PC 2003 and Smartphone 2003 you will have to
install SP1 to see the red color. If you do not have SP1 installed, you
can just drop down the selection of the TileSet and look for (NEW!) or
(UPDATED!) at the end of the name of the TileSet.

Play with your own
Pictures!
Check the "Options" dialog to select your pictures
for Tiles or Background. By default the background picture for any
TileSet will be taken from your "My Pictures" folder. If you have a
camera Pocket PC or Smartphone, you can take a picture with your camera
and use it as your background picture for your game. If you have many
pictures in your folder, Pocket-Jongg randomly picks a picture.
You can also select "My Picture Tiles" and
Pocket-Jongg will take a random picture from your "My Picture" folder
and use it as the Tiles. The picture will be chopped in a 6x7 tile-grid
resulting in the 42 required tiles. This increases the difficulty of the
game since you have to match parts of the picture.
You can also design your own tiles picture by
creating a special picture that has a 6x7 tile-grid (click
here to download a empty TileSet template). Draw anything in the
tiles you like and save it to your "My Pictures" folder (on Pocket PCs
without a camera you can put it into "My Documents") and name it "MYTILES.BMP".
Instead of .BMP you can also use .GIF or .JPG resulting in smaller
images and faster loading time.

New Score Management
Compare your score with other players
online. A simple
registration with a single click of a button will enable this cool new
feature. You can see your local scores and the top 7 scores on your
Device/PC in the High-Score table. For more scores go to
www.Pocket-Jongg.com and look
at the score-table there. You can also see how other players are doing
on other device types.

New Animations
The game is much more interactive and animated now.
Check out the tiles when your hover over them with a mouse or just drag
your stylus over them. We were listening to your feedback! On popular
demand we have removed the lines that were shown after a pair of stones
were removed from the screen. Now the two matching stones are either
flying out the direction they had been removed or they implode in case
of the Zig-Zag rule (see Zig-Zag rule in "How to
play").

Improved Score-Ling
Compared to older version of Pocket-Jongg, starting
with Version 4 Pocket-Jongg shows a rotating score line with all the
every important scoring information such as Score, Level, Tiles to go
and Seconds left.

Multiplayer Feature did not make it in 4.0 :-(
Unfortunately we had to drop
one feature from the older version: Multiplayer. Pocket-Jongg 4.0 is a
single-player only game as of now. We are planning on bringing back
Multiplayer with many more options for internet play, local area play
(like system-link on X-Box) and even split screen play.

Multi-Player game via LAN
You can now play Pocket-Jongg
over a standard LAN. If your H/PC or Palm PC is connected to the Host PC you can play
between the device and the PC.
If your device has an IP address known to your local area
network, you can even play between any PC connected to the LAN. Read
here how to set the LAN environment up.
In the April Timeframe Pocket-Jongg
will also allow gameplay between two devices over IrDA. We will post an update on the Web
as soon as this feature becomes available.

New Tournament Mode
Many Pocket-Jongg Fans complained that after a certain
skill level, Pocket-Jongg is too easy. The new Tournament Mode now sets a time limit for
every level. If you cannot remove all stones in the given time the game ends.

New Start Dialog
Like in popular Desktop applications you will now get a
Start Dialog every time you start a new game. It lets you choose a new kind of game very
easily. Of course the dialog can be switched off on demand.

New FullScreen Mode
With a tab of the stylus you can switch off the Menu on
the Windows CE devices. This enlarges the screen and helps you to recognize the stones
better.

New One-Line Score
Between No-Score and Full-Score we introduce a new
One-Line score. It provides you still with the most important score information but

New Stone Tooltips
The original game of Pocket-Jongg uses 144 stones on one
screen. Especially on the small Palm PC devices, the stone will appear very small in these
resolutions. In version 3.0 we introduce a new technology called Stone-Tooltips. Every
time you select a stone, it will appear in its full size as long as you tap on it. As soon
as you release the pen/mouse the stone tooltip will disappear again. This helps especially
beginners to learn and handle the game more easy.

Bug fix in Solitaire mode
The solitaire mode was broken in V2.1. This is fixed now.

Now there is one setup for all WinCE Devices using auto
detection of the H/PC processor.

Support for Hibernation
Pocket-Jongg V2.1
is now prepared for the "Designed for WindowsCE" Logo by
even supporting the Hibernation support on WinCE. Hibernation will be activated if the
H/PC runs out of memory. All running Applications are asked to free as much memory as they
can. In the case of Pocket-Jongg we unload the Sounds to free more memory (about 100K).
Every time you switch off the sound you will free these 100K. You can only switch on the
sound if there is more than 100K left in the memory.

Bug fix in Challenge Mode
In Pocket-Jongg V2.0 you could not see how many seconds
you have left to think while playing against the computer. This was fixed in V2.1.

New Setup for WindowsCE version
The Setup installs Pocket-Jongg V2.1
automatically on your WindowsCE device. It also installs an uninstallation procedure to
remove the game without problems.

New stones for better recognition
The beta version was using not very readable stones. The
new stones were completely repainted and are now much better to recognize.
|
Autoscaling during the game
If you manage to remove a complete row or column on the
sides of the playfield the remaining tiles get autoscaled to the boundaries of your WinCE
Device. The more stones you remove the bigger the layout becomes and the easier the game
becomes.
