Frequently Asked Questions...

When I register with Pocket-Jongg.com, what are you collecting?

As we state in the registration dialog ("Enable Score Posting") we do only register an unique GUID (Global Unique IDentifier). It will track the scores of your game online. Without this registration score tracking/recording is not possible.

When does Pocket-Jongg post the scores?

Pocket-Jongg posts the score of the current game...

  • ...during a game every three minutes
  • ...when the High-Score table is shown
  • ...at the end of a game

The scores are posted in the background. If you do not see your score in the "Online scores" right away - just check a couple minutes later.

If I go to www.Pocket-Jongg.com, how can I see if somebody is playing the game right now?

If you look at the Score Table of Pocket-Jongg, you will see a little icon in the right most column of the Score Table.

  • A green Icon show a player that is currently online but not playing the game (Online)
  • A red icon shows a player that is currently playing the game (In Game/Busy)
  • A Green Icon with a little watch shows a player that has left a game but not yet finished it (Away)
  • No Icon shows a final score of a game.

Why is there no close button on the Pocket PC ?

In the Pocket PC (PPC) and Smartphone (SP) version of Windows CE Microsoft introduces the concept of intelligent memory management for the first time. If the PPC or SP runs out of memory, it just closes the oldest running application automatically to free up more memory. The user just restarts the application by selecting it again from the Start Menu. All Logo certified application must remember the last state and return to it when restarted. A close button or exit command is therefore not necessary any more. You can select "Continue later" if you want to pause the game and free its resources.

Pocket-Jongg V4.0 is Pocket PC and Smartphone logo compliant and fulfills this requirement.

What is the purpose of the .TileSet File ?

The .TileSet File contains all the graphic and sound information as well as the Level designs. You can use the online TileSet Designer on www.Pocket-Jongg.com to design your own TileSets.

Can I design my own Level-File ?

You can use the online TileSet Designer on www.Pocket-Jongg.com to design your own TileSets.

Why is there no help file on CE?

Memory is valuable on a Pocket PC and Smartphone device. We decided not to put a helpfile on the device to reduce amount of memory we use. To get the latest instructions click here.

In what order does Pocket-Jongg process the Tiles Bitmaps ?

Pocket-Jongg supports multiple ways of choosing a bitmap for the background or the TileSet. This is the order Pocket-Jongg selects a bitmap:

Tiles:

  1. First PJ checks the options if "My Picture Tiles" is selected.
  2. If its selected - PJ tries to load an imaged named "MYTILES.BMP|JPG|GIF" from your "My Documents" folder and subfolders. If it cannot find it, PJ tries to load a random picture from your "My Documents" folder and its sub-folders.
  3. If no picture was found or the option "My Picture Tiles" was not selected, PJ tries to load the picture defined in the current level of the currently selected TileSet.
  4. If no picture was defined for the level, PJ tries to load the default TileSet Tiles Picture.
  5. If still no picture was found, PJ load the Default Tiles Picture from inside the Pocket-Jongg.exe which is always there.

Background

The Background picture is loaded in the same manner as the Tiles picture, with the exception that there is no "MYTILES" pre-defined image.
